Cost of Hiring a Driver in Uganda
The additional cost of hiring a driver-guide is USD 40 per day. This rate covers the driver’s meals and accommodation, and all proceeds go directly to the driver. You won’t need to book separate accommodation — most lodges and campsites have designated driver quarters at a reduced rate.
If you’re a birding enthusiast, we can arrange a specialized birding driver-guide for USD 80 per day. Uganda is a true paradise for birdwatchers, boasting over 1,000 species. Our birding driver-guides are experts in identifying bird calls, locating rare species, and leading you to the best birding hotspots, from forest trails to wetland reserves.
For campers, we’ll ensure your driver is fully equipped with the necessary camping gear. Please note that camping costs for the driver will be at your expense.
Additional driver-related costs include national park entrance fees (USD 2–5/day, depending on the park). Fuel remains at your own expense. Each rental car is delivered with a quarter tank of fuel and should be returned with the same amount.
